A few weeks ago, anonymous sources slipped word Phoenix had made the decision not to make any major trades this season; the core of Steve Nash, Amare Stoudemire and Shawn Marion would get another championship try. Despite that, rumors have still since popped up, putting Amare on the block or Marion in some Andrei Kirilenko deal.
Suns owner Robert Sarver's trying to end all that noise. Paul Coro from the Arizona Republic reports."As far as doing anything with our core players, that's just not going to happen," Sarver said. "I feel very strongly that we are capable of winning a championship with who we have, and I'm going to let these guys go for another shot at a championship." That the status quo will remain isn't surprising; an Amare or Marion trade would have shook the Earth. But that final clause -- "I'm going to let these guys go for another shot" -- does that mean one shot? As in, if they don't bring home Phoenix's first ring this summer, it's time to blow it up?
Marion's contract status (he can opt out this summer, but he'd likely leave a bunch of money on the table; Phoenix doesn't seem convinced he should get a raise) matters the most. I'm guessing Marion stays the course... i...
