Washington 5, Montreal 4 (OT): Alex Ovechkin takes a stick to the face, dishes out punishment, gets a bloody nose from splashing into the boards and also netted four goals - including the game-winner in overtime. Any wonder why he just received a monster contract?

New York Rangers 4, Philadelphia 0: Entering last night's game, no team in the NHL was hotter than the Flyers, who won 8 of 10. And then Philly goalie Antero Niittymaki gave up all four goals in less than 22 minutes. New York's Brendan Shanahan, eight days after his 39th birthday, recorded his 17th goal of the season. It was the first road win in over a month for the Rangers and it marked Steve Valiquette's first career shutout.

Boston 4, Ottawa 1: The Northeast Division-leading Sens have lost 6 of 10. Punctual Ray Emery, now relegated to the bench, watched backup goalie Martin Gerber give up three goals on 21 Bruins shots. Despite a hot streak (six of 10), the Bruins aren't impressed.

Tampa Bay 4, Vancouver 3: The big three came through for the Lighting. Vinny Lecavalier got into a good throw-down and netted a goal, his 31st. Marty St. Louis had three assists. But Tampa Bay was carried by a goal and two assists from $7.8 million man Brad Ric...
