The Mayor signed a 1 year $700,000 contract with the Sox. Honestly I have no idea why, we have Youk and Ortiz, kept Mike Lowell at third only thing I can see is packaging him in a trade or is this a sign that things may not be good with the first baseman...but anyway Casey hit. 296 in 143 games last season with Detroit. He is a career .301 hitter in 11 major league seasons. He broke in with the Cincinnati Reds in 1997.
