The next 10 days are going to be filled with news of college football players jumping all over draft boards. Some will rise and some will fall but all are going to be affected by what goes on at the combine in Indianapolis and trying to fit players into draft slots before it's over is about as sensible as trying to fit square pegs into round holes. Doesn't stop people from doing it, however. Mock drafts abound on the internets and two of them have the Jets taking Darren McFadden sixth this April.

Both Don Banks of SI.com and The Sports Xchange think that McFadden will be the Jets guy and I think both of them are full of it. Not because the Jets wouldn't take McFadden if the opportunity arose, it's just absurdly early to even begin to know what the Jets will do and where McFadden will go. There's been no combine, no Pro Days, no free agency, no anything that makes it clear what a team might do with their first round pick.

Running back isn't a major need for the Jets but if McFadden is going to have an Adrian Peterson-type impact, I think they'd consider him. Not everyone is convinced he's that good, which is all well and good because the Jets will be considering all sorts of playe...
